Our Story
Hello, my name is Kate & I am the founder of Kingfisher Activities.
Having completed my PGCE at Exeter University & taught PE for the past 15 years, I decided to pursue my love & enthusiasm for learning, outside of the education setting.
During my teaching career I have been fortunate enough to teach in two outstanding schools in Devon, both in the state & private sector. Having undertaken roles such as the KS4 lead for enrichment activities, head of gifted & talented & being head of PE & Sport, has given me a wealth of experience in delivering & planning programmes for ages spanning 4-18. All of the knowledge gained in my roles, has ignited a passion within me for ensuring educational experiences both on & off the sports field are enjoyable, engaging & inclusive.
Currently I teach PE part time alongside establishing Kingfisher Activities.
Although hockey has always been my main sport having played at National League level for many years & representing the West of England, I also have a love for cricket having represented Somerset for a number of years. In addition, my new interests have taken me back to the swimming pool, a place I hadn't visited since I was in primary school. Currently I enjoy swimming for the masters at my local swimming club & I have even enjoyed participating in open water swimming, winning the first competition I entered at the Exmoor Open Water 2km event.
Thank you for taking the time to visit the website & I hope to meet you soon.
